SUMMARY:October Land Use + Transportation Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The SE Uplift Land Use & Transportation Committee (LUTC) provides a forum for District 3 community members and organizations to learn about\, discuss\, and provide feedback on transportation and land use plans\, projects\, and policies affecting our neighborhoods. \nThe LUTC meets every third Monday at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to everyone\, and you do not need to attend regularly to attend an individual meeting that interests you. Sign up for LUTC Updates to receive reminders and details about future meetings. \nPlanned Meeting Topics\n\n82nd Ave Transit Project Update: Learn about the design for FX–Frequent Express bus service on 82nd Avenue\, including planned improvements to travel times and access. The project is entering into the construction phase and expected to be complete in 2029.\n\n\nSafe Routes to School Infrastructure Investment Plan:Hear how safety projects are identified near schools and learn where to find the status for SRTS projects investments in this interactive overview.\n\n\nPPS School Catchment Zone Changes and Transportation Impacts:Portland Public Schools (PPS) is considering changes to school catchment boundaries that could significantly alter travel patterns for students and families attending neighborhood schools. Community members have raised concerns that some of the proposed alignments require longer trips\, including travel across major barriers such as I-84 and Powell Blvd\, where safe crossings for youth may be limited and challenge families who depend on walking\, biking\, or transit to travel to school.\nCommittee Updates:Learn about upcoming events such as an online ABCs of Land Use training on Oct. 28th\, the Transportation System Plan Open House for District 3 in November\, and more!
