Housing Bonus Alignment Project (Portland.gov)
The Housing Bonus Alignment Project aims to update development bonuses in mixed use and multi-dwelling zones outside of the Central City through zoning amendments. The changes offer bonuses to developers like extra height or larger building footprints in exchange for needed housing types. This includes increased accessible units, affordable housing, and more bedrooms for large households such as those with children. Reductions on minimum standards on landscaping, setbacks, and outdoor space are being considered to create more room for neighbors in our city.

Transportation Administrative Rule Updates
The City of Portland is currently revising several Administrative Rules for Transportation (TRN abbreviation) to ensure the City Code remains operational and update guidance. A key update is TRN 14-34 which regulates Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (“AVs”). Portland has regulated private for-hire vehicles for over 100 years. For-hire autonomous vehicles are coming to the city and public comment is being accepted. While autonomous vehicles provide benefits there are risks which need to be weighed with consideration for how AVs interact with the public. Proposed rules include conditions of operation as well as restrictions.
