Gaby was born and raised in SE Portland where she attended David Douglas High School. From a young age, she has made volunteering a priority in her life especially to issues relating to food insecurity, civic engagement and education. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Planning, Public Policy, and Management & International Studies from the University of Oregon. While there Gaby worked primarily on event planning and social justice organizing.
These experiences led to her completing a year of AmeriCorps service with College Possible as a college coach. There she supported a cohort of college students to persist in their pursuit of a four-year college degree. Throughout her previous experiences, she has held a strong conviction that diversity, equity and inclusion be part of creating change towards social justice and finding ways to improve engagement to align with these goals. Gaby is excited to grow and contribute to the advancement of the SE Uplift Neighborhood Coalition as the new Community Engagement Liaison/Fiscal Sponsorship Manager.
In her free time, Gaby enjoys catching up with friends, re-watching Parks and Recreation, painting, volunteering for social justice causes, and having brunch with her family.
