Fixing Our Streets Small Safety Projects (Portland.gov)

Portland’s voter-approved 10-cent gas tax and heavy vehicle use tax for fixing our streets and making them safer for all. Funds support the work of the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) to repave streets and fix potholes, build sidewalks, install new signals and streetlights, and much more.

Inner Powell Blvd Safety & Transit Improvements

Portland Bureau of Transportation is pursuing a grant for safety and transit improvements along Inner Powell Blvd. Metro will announce Transportation Systems Management and Operations grant awards in late 2026.

Trimet Proposed Service Adjustments (Trimet.org)

Trimet is facing a $300 million annual budget gap exacerbated by a 53% increase in operating costs since 2019, inflation, and shifting workforce commute patterns (e.g. 20% of work remotely in 2024 vs. 7% work remotely in 2019). Despite $150 million already saved through staffing reductions and cuts elsewhere in the budget, service changes are necessary to ensure long-term financial stability without more dramatic reductions later. The proposed service adjustments focus on network efficiency through consolidation of routes and maintaining frequent service routes whenever possible. Changes will be implemented by August 23, 2026 once approved.

Portland Transportation Revenue Options (Portland.gov)

The Portland Transportation Revenue Options progress report is the first phase to address Portland’s depending transportation budget crisis. Traditional revenues like gas taxes and parking fees are failing while construction costs have dramatically increased in recent years. While PBOT manages transportation infrastructure in excess of $21 billion, the majority of its funds are restricted by law to specific projects. PBOT has had to cut $42 million from General Transportation Revenue funded programs. This includes significant reductions in pavement maintenance, street sweeping, street sign upkeep, streetlights, and 823-SAFE community response times.
